Yes, you can.  Just perform a three-finger tap to open the Controls menu, and then you will be able to turn the sound ON/OFF on your iPad by using the Sound option .

Note that this button turns the sound ON/OFF on the iPad only.  You can adjust the sound for the PC independently by using the Windows default "Speaker Manager" tray icon for your particular Windows^® OS.
