Why does my Android device fail to connect to my PC using Wired XDisplay?

If you would like to use Splashtop WiredXDisplay for your Android device, but you run into situation that the app just keep in waiting for connection (with a spinning shape), it means some setting in your environment is incorrect.

In order to make your Android device work as extended display for your PC, in general, you need to make sure your environment meets the following criterias:

  • You have the latest version of Splashtop WiredXDisplay Agent installed on your PC, you can always visit this page to check if you have the latest one: www.splashtop.com/wiredxdisplay
  • You have enabled “Developer Option” and  “USB Debugging”, and also “trust” the computer, because this app needs ADB (Android Debug Bridge), see the following screenshots as a hint about these options. Both of these window will be automatically popped up in case you need to enable/grant, please make sure you’ve enabled/granted.
  • You need to have the appropriate Android Device USB Driver installed for your device on the PC, in most cases, Windows will automatically install it, but, due to the reality of Android fragmentation, in some cases, you need to manually install the Android device USB driver to make it work, here is the table listed for popular Android brandings ( source: http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html)

Does this app work for connecting a Nexus 7 tablet to a macbook pro?

I'm having trouble. Connecting. I've enabled debugging on my android tablet. Did not install any drivers on my mac. And when I plug in the USB between my macbook and my android, nothing happens. Could you please help?

    Krimsin Nupal,

I also have an NVIDIA Shield. You can download the USB driver from their website:

    https://developer.nvidia.com/shield-open-source

Download the driver, and under 'device manager' and find the unrecognized tablet (it will have a yellow exclamation point on it). There you can manually update the driver. You should be able to relaunch the splashtop app and plug your tablet in. Hope that helps.

Hi I followed your steps but still not able to extend my desktop thorugh Wired XDisplay. I want to extend my laptop with Windows 10 to my Samsung Galaxy S3. I have it rooted and with adb enabled, and i have downloaded Samsung drivers on my pc. What else could i try to EXTEND (not mirror or duplicate) my desktop? Thank you for your support!
