How do I install Splashtop XDisplay?

After you have purchased the Splashtop XDisplay ("Extended Display") application from the Apple App store and installed it on your iPad, the Splashtop XDisplay icon  XDisplay-icon-30x30.png  will be displayed on your iPad's home screen with your other application icons.  You must also download the free Splashtop Streamer application from and run it on your computer.  If a User Account Control dialog box appears during the installation process, select Yes to continue.  You will need to accept the Splashtop Inc. End-User License Agreement in order to continue.

The Installer will add the Splashtop Streamer application to your Startup folder in Windows, so by default it will be launched in the background whenever Microsoft Windows starts.  You may disable this after installation, by un-selecting the "Start Splashtop Streamer when this computer starts up, and allow clients to connect" check box in the Settings tab (not recommended).

You'll need to create a security code

After installation has completed, the five-tab setup dialog box shown above will display.  You will be required to create a security code in the Security tab before first-time use.  A few rules apply to security code creation.  Your security code must be between 8 and 20 characters long; must contain letters and numbers; and may optionally contain the following special characters:

/  (  )  $  &   @  "   .   ,   !  '  [  ]   {  }  #   %   ^   *  _  |  ~  <  >

When you close the setup dialog box, a one-time message will inform you that the application is running.  You can open it by clicking on the Splashtop Streamer icon Streamer-tray-icon-gray-24.png in the Status Bar.
