Why can't I install driver on Mac OSX 10.10 Yosemite?

After recent Mac OSX 10.10 update, virtual driver (the "Install driver"  button at Streamer-> Settings tab) can not be loaded normally; however, virtual driver is a must need to make Extended Wireless Display product work on a Mac.

Here is the workaround for Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite user which could let you enter developer mode to load virtual driver:

  1. Open Terminal app on your Mac and run command: sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1" (It might need your admin's password at this step.)
  2. Reboot your Mac.
  3. Go to Streamer-> Settings tab to hit "Install driver" button, then reboot again.
  4. Open Extended Wireless Display app to establish connection to your Mac to see if it could work.

Note:

If it still does not work, please go to System Preference-> Display to see if system detects extend display after above workaround done, if not, please reboot again then establish session.

    I was able to get this to work with OS X 10.10.

    1) Followed the steps in this post

    2) Remove Splashtop Extended Wireless Display 2 from iPad (IOS 8.1.2)

    3) Reinstall app from Appstore (still version 1.0.0.0  :-\  )

    4) Walk through startup of app on iPad

    5) Set password on streamer on MAC

    6) Connect from iPad app

    Hope this helps

    Forgot to mention I'm running Splashtop Streamer 2.6.2.7 on my Mac

    Works for me as well, running Splashtop Streamer version 2.6.5.2 (A) on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. The problem I'm having now is that after uninstalling and reinstalling XDisplay, I can't get my previous purchase restored and thereby get out of the time-limited XDisplay trial mode.

    I followed the instructions in James Ingle's post, and now mine is working.

    Thank you James.

    Not working... This product is not worth paying if you cannot use it!

    And, worse still, their "support" doesn't even bother to reply.

    @Piero,

    There should be no obvious change at System Preference after installing driver, could I know what issue you see when trying to connect?

    @jdtello,

    Please let me know the issue you encountered, I will try to help resolve it.

    Thanks. Well, all of a sudden, it's started working again.  In the meantime, as I had tried to uninstall my XDisplay app and reinstall it hoping to solve my issue, I ended up buying inadvertently WiFi Display.  I just thought the App Store would recognize me as a customer of XDisplay, but eventually found myself having bought another variant, WiFi Display.  Neither was working until now, but as I now have got both and both are working, I just can't tell the difference from one another.

    The issue was that I was seeing my computer on the app's screen, but when I tried to connect to it, it would not, while returning a message like:

    S=03 E=84000121 (or 122 or 123, I can't remember any more)

    This is the error I keep getting. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling things both on my mac and on my iPad and no changes.

    Yes, this is the very same situation I was in.  Now I am at a loss to understand what happened.  I just launched the app and on it went, as used to be the case before the upgrade.   I suspect that network conditions, overload, etc. may be the culprits, causing a possible timeout.

    I finally am able to connect my iPad to my macbook but all they do is mirroring each other. Display setting shows no sigh that it detects a second display so the arrangement setting does not show up. I want to use my iPad as extend monitor; mirroring is useless to me.

    My 2009 Macbook is running OS X 10.10.3

    I have the same problem as Varunya Jarunyaroj, mirroring is not enough! I need an extended display! pay back if you cannot make it work!!

    Doesn't work.

    Are there plans to make extended display work from osx to other platforms, or should we be looking for other solutions?

    This company has a shameless policy of ripping customers off, as well as abstaining from whatever support or improvement to its products.  I was hoping to upgrade my WiFi Display to XDisplay or the other way round, can't tell the difference between the 2 and ended up purchasing a second product from them, which is just as useless as the first.  Mind you, it has been working for some time, then it stopped entirely after my OS update. I reinstalled the driver and now splashtop doesn't even have my computer appear in the Splashtop window on my iPad.  I could see it all right, but it systematically refused to connect.

    @Piero Mattirolo,

    XDisplay is not compatible with current iOS, and Extended Wireless Display could work.

    As for the "stopped entirely after OS update" issue, does it mean you can't open the streamer? Or you can't connect to the Mac using Extended Wireless Display?

    If the target computer does not show in the computer list, that means your devices are in different network environment.

    Actually my IOS on iPad 2 is not current, but still on 7.  I bought WiFi  Display as well as XDisplay (beat me if you can tell one from the other) and Extended Wireless Display is just the one I haven't got, but, given the experience, I would be reluctant to purchase.  I have been seeing my computer in WiFi Display's window in blue, but still failed to connect.

    Update:  I just noticed that WiFi Display is called Splashtop Extended Wireless in one of the screens.   However it still does not work: my computer shows in blue,  meaning that the streamer is visibile to my iPad, which unfortunately still fails to connect (Error S=03 E=84000121).  I re-installed the driver times and again to no avail.

    @Piero Mattirolo,

    Could I know the version of the streamer you use? Please also re-install the streamer and restart the router in your network environment then see if it could connect successfully. (Please remember to install the driver after re-install the streamer.)

    Hooray: it's working again after the Streamer's update.  I wasn't aware of a new version: it wasn't displayed in my App Store
